Co-Creation 2012 Workshops

The Servant Leadership of Greensboro provides a coherent sequence of teaching and practices, which guide participants through a process of genuine emotional and personal transformation. The School offers a three-year curriculum with 8 core classes and many companion classes not directly associated yet complementary to the core curriculum. These workshops represented a “sampling” of the content and practices we teach in both the core and companion classes.

Theory U

Dan Garrett, MS RPh, Pharmacist, architect of community-based diabetes programs nationwide and Board member of Homeward Bound/Asheville, will provide an experience based on Theory U: Leading from the Future as it Emerges by C. Otto Scharmer, MIT professor. Dan will describe the path and practice of being Present to Divine Presence through a journey that connects us more deeply both to what wants to emerge in the world and to our emerging, higher self.    Click here for Hope to Home Case Study.

Men's Spirituality

Paul Volk, MSW, Licensed Spiritual Director and small group facilitator, will describe how he creates a safe place for men to inquire, share and learn together in spirit of acceptance, care and encouragement. Paul appreciates and sometimes uses the work of Richard Rohr on this topic.

Homelessness

The Rev. Frank Dew, Presbyterian Chaplain at Greensboro Urban Ministry, and one of the original founders of The Servant Leadership School of Greensboro, will facilitate a discussion on how, as people of faith, we can be “helpful not hurtful” while being with the poor in our community.

Labyrinth

Marjorie Donnelly, M.Ed, Spiritual Director, Director of Christian Education at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, will provide an introduction to walking the Labyrinth and share the history and work of the Labyrinth Keepers, an ecumenical group dedicated to providing education and opportunities to experience the transformational experience of this walking meditation.

Transition Town

Amelia Poole, MA, certified Superior Court mediator and trained in Nonviolent Communication, shares the work of a community-based movement which encourages transitioning to a more sustainable and resilient lifestyle.

Children in Poverty

Ruth D. Anderson, PhD, Director of The Servant Leadership School and former professor at NCSU, shares how a small group of servant leaders have served the most vulnerable children in our community for the past five years.

Enneagram

Dee Irwin, PhD, retired human development professor, co-founder of Healing Ground retreat center and spiritual director, will describe basic aspects of the Enneagram and how this tool facilitates the spiritual journey.

Awakening the Heart

The Rev. Timothy Patterson, one of the founders of The Servant Leadership School of Greensboro and Rector of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, describes the research and practices from The HeartMath Institute and others, on how to transform emotional and mental energy into the compassionate intelligence of the heart.

Café Conversations

Marilyn Wolf, LPC and LCAS, counselor and consultant with a spiritual development dimension and participant in Servant Leadership Certification, will facilitate a conversation for anyone who would like to come and share what ideas and experiences from the conference are emerging.
